I did it my way.

I've been thinking about my education, my work experience and skills. Did you know that I started as a chambermaid? Yeah, that's true. I mean, I've been working most of my weekends since I turned 16 and was still at school. Jobs like a hostess in a supermarket, promoting mustard or pepper that came in freshly designed jars ('If you buy two jars, you'll get a picture frame with it, completely for free!'). Or giving out leaflets, which actually was a nice thing to do. I always had that let’s call it ‘ambition’ not to be asking my parents for money if I wanted to go out, buy myself a CD or new shoes. But my first job after graduating from high-school was a chambermaid. I was working in a huge hotel during the summer, employed by a job agency which paid me 0,60euro cents per room. It was hot, it was difficult but for 3 weeks I kept up with the position. After that I found this position at a small and cute hotel near the city centre, which offered a quit...

My huge thumb says 'hi'! Hi girls and boys! How are you doing? Is the summer treating you well? As for myself, I don't know because it is the second sunny day this summer for me so I'm still about to find out. I've been scrolling through Facebook just today and I think I might know why we are all so insecure. We follow all of the lifestyle pages, right? I'll put myself as an example. Among all of the pages I follow, I follow some about dieting, fitness, self awareness and interior design. I stay in bed after my alarm clock wakes me up and I scroll down. Some news, meh, nothing new, just as usual. Some pictures of my friends getting engaged/married/pregnant, meh, this actually doesn't scare me any more or doesn't make me want to roll my eyes either because I realize along with them- I'm getting older too. Then I see this page saying '10 breakfasts to help you slim your body down'. Oh God, so I'm eating the wrong thi...

Hometown glory.

Growing up is kind of difficult, especially when you were sure that you already have had it behind you. You have responsibilities, a relationship, an apartment, a job, bills to pay, laundry to do. You deal with all kinds of issues that were invisible to your eyes before. Sure, I have already told you about how independent I was since I turned 16 and could start working legally. I never had any illusions- sooner or later you have to face things such as moving out from your home, leaving parents behind. I just didn't want to wait for it too long. I was always well prepared for adolescence, I was waiting to turn 18 to be able to make my own decisions about everything. After that I couldn't wait to move out, because my mom used to say that as long as I was living under 'her' roof, I was going to listen to her. I made choices which I am proud of, ones that I'd rather not talk about, but in the end it doesn't matter, because I can hold my head up high. I would ...
